Cascadia Capital, an investment bank serving middle-market clients globally, today announced that it acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Ednetics, a market leader and premier provider of advanced technology solutions for K-12 schools, libraries, educational institutions, and state and local governments across the western United States, in its strategic combination with MGT, a national technology and advisory solutions leader serving state, local, and education (SLED) government clients. With this acquisition, MGT is now the second-largest provider of technology infrastructure to low-income school communities in the nation.

Founded in 1997 by CEO Shawn Swanby, Ednetics has grown into a mission-driven Pacific Northwest market leader, helping organizations access and adopt technology to power student learning.

“From my very first conversation with MGT leaders, it was obvious that we had a shared vision with a deep commitment to serving our communities,” said Swanby. “We are extremely excited to join the MGT team and are ready to strengthen and expand the services we provide. We look forward to working together to create an even greater impact with MGT.”

Like MGT, Ednetics is dedicated to elevating government performance through digital transformation across IT, cybersecurity, cloud, communications, and physical security technology solutions. This exciting combination accelerates MGT’s technology offerings and managed solutions in new markets, reinforcing the company’s ongoing mission to be the social impact and performance leader in SLED. Together, the two organizations are poised to revolutionize how technology serves education and the public sector to drive unprecedented growth and innovation.

Ednetics extends the national reach of the MGT technology platform to more than 23 million K-12 students, strengthening MGT’s category-of-one positioning as the premier SLED technology provider in the U.S.

Trey Traviesa, CEO of MGT, said, “For decades, Ednetics has been dedicated to tackling the toughest technology modernization challenges schools and public sector agency leaders face. This focus aligns powerfully with MGT’s core commitment to deliver specialized solutions that address the most mission-critical problems that live at the top of the SLED leadership agenda every day. Together, we have a powerful opportunity to learn from each other and catalyze our growth and impact nationwide. I’m thrilled to join forces with the exceptional Ednetics team to turn our shared vision into reality.”

This combination also significantly enhances MGT’s relationship with the top technology providers in the world, deepening MGT’s partnerships with Cisco, Aruba, Juniper Networks, and Motorola, among many others. These partnerships allow the company to provide the highest-value technology solutions to its clients.

“We are honored to have worked with Ednetics to find the right partner to accelerate the company’s growth trajectory in the K-12 technology services space,” said Hugh Campbell, Managing Director of Cascadia’s Business Services team. “This continues our string of successful deals in the broader IT services market, and we are excited to see the MGT and Ednetics combination thrive.”

“Cascadia was a trusted advisor to us over a long period, culminating with this deal. Their practical advice and diligent work helped us achieve an excellent outcome with the right partner in MGT,” said Shawn Swanby, CEO of Ednetics.

Cascadia’s Technology team continues to see significant momentum across the IT services landscape, driven by evolving public sector needs and a growing demand for digital infrastructure and cybersecurity expertise.
