Cascadia Capital, an investment bank serving middle market clients globally, today announced it acted as the exclusive financial advisor to SimpleMDM, an Apple device management platform, in its acquisition by PDQ, a portfolio company of TA Associates and leading provider of IT asset management software.
The deal marks the expansion of PDQ’s Windows-based software management products into Mac and iOS software management and reinforces PDQ’s position as one of the industry’s most versatile and valuable solutions for systems administration.
“PDQ is aggressively looking for ways to help IT professionals focus their time and energy where it’s needed most,” said Dan Cook, CEO at PDQ.com. “The powerful combination of PDQ and SimpleMDM will reinforce our strategy of helping sysadmins effectively keep all types of devices healthy and up-to-date. We’re thrilled to work with SimpleMDM to accelerate growth, and to welcome their customers, employees and products to PDQ.”
PDQ.com provides more than 19,000 organizations with Windows software deployment and inventory reporting through their top-rated software management platforms, PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory. Utilized by businesses of all sizes, from startups to multinational corporations, SimpleMDM allows system administrators to manage Apple devices and applications with a single intuitive, powerful cloud interface. With the addition of SimpleMDM, PDQ.com expands its ability to support both Windows and Apple-based devices while adding more than 3,000 customers to its community.
“We wanted to partner with a company that values building strong products and fostering a tight knit community of IT professionals, and we found that partner in PDQ.com,” said Taylor Boyko, CEO of SimpleMDM. “We’re extremely excited to join PDQ and utilize our shared values and vision to drive growth.”
“SimpleMDM and PDQ are highly complementary businesses in the Apple and Windows device ecosystems, respectively. Both companies have the same ideal customer profile and go-to-market motion with no product overlap. The combination should yield meaningful cross-selling opportunities as PDQ customers look to manage their Apple-based devices and SimpleMDM customers look to manage their Windows-based devices,” added Matt Riendeau, Cascadia Managing Director. “Cascadia was honored to have represented SimpleMDM in this transaction, and it was a pleasure to work with PDQ and TA Associates to achieve an outstanding outcome for all parties.”
The acquisition of SimpleMDM represents another successful transaction for Cascadia in the infrastructure software sector, and our second in the mobile device management space. Past transactions include the sale of NitroDesk to Symantec, the acquisition of Movere by Microsoft, the sale of Travis CI to Idera, the acquisitions of Scout Server Monitoring and PaperTrail by SolarWinds.
