Thundershirt, LLC, doing business as ThunderWorks, a designer and marketer of innovative pet calming and walking solutions, including the category-defining and patented ThunderShirt® product, was acquired by Ceva Santé Animale, S.A., (“Ceva”) a global veterinary health company engaging in the research, development, production, and marketing of pharmaceutical products and vaccines for companion and farm animals.
At the time of the sale, ThunderWorks was a portfolio company of Encore Consumer Capital (“Encore”), a private equity firm that invests exclusively in leading consumer products companies.
“As health and wellness becomes the primary driver of industry growth, solution sets that address pet wellbeing in an efficacious manner will see increasing demand,” said Cascadia Managing Director, Bryan Jaffe. “ThunderWorks has established a leadership position in pet anxiety management, offering pet owners a range of over-the-counter alternatives to help companion animals and their owners. This combination of innovation and effectiveness made ThunderWorks an attractive acquisition candidate.”
“ThunderWorks is all about making affordable, effective, easy-to-use solutions for real problems faced by pet families,” said Phil Blizzard, ThunderWorks Founder & CEO. “Through our partnership with Encore, we establised a leadership position in the calming category. We are very excited to now be part of the Ceva family to further accelerate bringing category innovation to market and expand the number of pet families our solutions will reach. We thank Cascadia for the role it played in helping to manage our process and deliver this outcome.”
The acquisition of ThunderWorks represents another successful transaction in the pet industry for Cascadia Capital. Cascadia has now closed eighteen pet industry transactions, including three pet products transactions in the past 12 months. Recent Cascadia clients in the space include R2P Pet, Motivation Design (Kurgo®), Nulo, and Fruitables.
